My parents bought a whole bunch of fresh local strawberries a couple of days before I came up. Michigan strawberries are so good (actually, fresh-picked strawberries from anywhere are way better than grocery store strawberries). My mom made freezer jam with some of them and added sugar to most of the rest and used them for strawberry shortcake. I’ll tell you what; that is one simple yet delicious dessert that I don’t make enough. So, so good. And it’s not with the gross little store-bought sponge cakes. Homemade biscuits are the way to go. Delicious.
